My Silent Night
by J. Allen Wilson
Thursday, November 18, 2004

They say that writing can be therapeutic; for me
At this point and time, it’s the only thing that stays the same

What sadness to this lowly form doth prevail,
for deficient are the rays of hope which come

neutered from within times hidden veil.
Collapsing now of hearts sound and true ,
granting unto the darkness

the fading dreams which once did soothe.

Oh, how shall I say,

That our time should not be this way
for I Cannot deal with this sting any more,
nor can I revive hope from the fleeting shore,
for lost am I, cast into a stormy sea
left to drown in blackness

formed by clouds of infirmity.
Yet strong must I be,
as in the company of others...my strength they must see,
alas though in the quiet of my silent night,
I shall suffer my longing, unto myself,

and when no one is looking

I softly…in my silent night…cry.

Allen, this poem felt like an angel's wings enfolding me. I hope, in the writing and through the tears, you felt something close to that. My prayers are with you in your silent nights. Take care, Dawn

I await each day,
To see what my friend Al will say,
I hope he is feeling the suns ray,
Keeping him happy all the way...

But apparently that is not the case with this tear jerker of a poem, Al, I truly hope you are well & honestly NOT crying ever...Find Peace, Ed & Rufuz (thanks for comments when you get the chance ;)]

Allen, You've shown strength that others never will. For it takes amazing strength to face your demons, not only face them but challenge them to duel.
Truly an exceptional write.

This is so sad, yet, one must wonder how those who are set apart as the strong survive without crying a little.

Allen, you have described the silent suffering of so many through this timeless write, my friend. It is an absolute treasure, and I am truly saddened that you feel this much pain. You have so much to offer this world. May the gentle winds of the Creator’s grace always comfort and keep you and yours safe throughout your travels through time and space. Take good care and be well.
