My Leah Has Passed On Into Glory

Today we buried my wife Leah Cecile Wilson by the statue in the cemetery of the woman clinging to the cross. This is what my Leah did all of her life. She knelt at the foot of the cross and kept Jesus in her heart. However, I feel dead inside without her; I feel so empty and alone. Some may say that at least now I can move on and put this to rest as I have now laid Leah to rest. I know not what the days ahead may bring, but I do know that our love will go on.

As most of you may know, Tybee Island, Ga. was our most favorite place in the world to go and be together. There we were free in our spirits to laugh and build castles in the sand; to sit on the pier at midnight and hear the ocean roll beneath our feet. I did not get to keep the promise that I made to her this year in that I would take her back to Tybee for her birthday…it seems she and God had other plans for that day. However, a promise from me is a promise and Leah and I will return to Tybee this year….

It is my plan for this coming Thanksgiving to take her back to the place she loved so much. Together she and I have collected years of memories of this most wonderful place and it is my plan to gather our memories together and place them in a sealed floating time capsule if you will. I plan on having a minister to conduct a service out on the end of the pier and have a bagpiper play “Amazing Grace”. After the ceremony I plan to take that box of love and give it to the sea where I hope that our love and dreams will forever drift on open seas. If they happen to wash on some remote beach; it is my prayer that whoever finds our box of love that they will return it back to the sea.
